July Birthstones

Rubies are both the Modern and Traditional birthstone for people born during the month of July.  Rubellite, Tourmaline, Carnelian, Sapphire, along with Red Gemstones are considered the Alternative birthstones by Gem Dealers, Jewelry Designers, and Jewelry Manufacturers.  A true Ruby is actually the mineral Corundum. This mineral comes in a lot of colors but only when it is red is it considered a Ruby. Any other color of this mineral is usually considered a Sapphire.
