Occurrence:

Sapphires are mined from alluvial deposits or from primary underground workings. Historically, most sapphires have been mined in Madagascar and Myanmar. Australia, leads the world in sapphire production .

Rarity: Some sapphire colors are rare but most are easily obtained as uncut stones
